Sailing regattas are assuming major significance on the Australian sporting scene. Amongst the very largest is the annual Airlie Beach Race Week, now in its 23rd year.

With ever growing fleets Race Week in recent years has become the largest sporting event in Airlie Beach and it is attracting attention at every level.

This week event organiser's Whitsunday Sailing Club Commodore Rob Davis said 'We are very pleased to have the Australian telecommunications company Telcoinabox as 2012 Naming Rights Sponsor for Airlie Beach Race Week.

‘We have been looking for a company that has plenty of passion and attitude and understands why Airlie Beach Race Week is so special. People come from all around Australia to campaign their yachts, put their team through tough competition and work hard to race and play every day.

‘The event is legendary for a reason and we now have a company that has the value set and attitude to match.'

Damian Kay, Managing Director of Telcoinabox explained ‘We are proud to be part of Airlie Beach Race Week. Pushing the boundaries is what we do.

‘We have been involved in the sport of sailing through sponsorship of a yacht in the Sydney to Hobart and Hamilton Race Week events and we recognise that Airlie Beach is an iconic regatta in the most perfect sailing environment in Australia. We will use this event to build our brand and as an incentive for our management team.'

Damian continued ‘The Telcoinabox values and sailing have a lot of synergies. When racing it is a competitive environment, everyone has to contribute or you have no chance of winning, you can’t do a half hearted job or someone will get hurt and the competition and the socialising means there is lots of fun.’

Asked more about his company Damian explained ‘Telcoinabox started with one simple idea: that anyone with a phone, computer and an internet connection should be able to establish and run their own telecommunications company. While Telcoinabox assists wholesalers service their clients and ignite their entrepreneurial spirit, they have also developed a set of values that are core to their business attitude.

‘So being part of this event is core to our values. It is a perfect fit!!

‘This year’s event will now be called Telcoinabox Airlie Beach Race Week.
