Its Not Too Late for Heaven Can Wait!!

by Heaven Can Wait Media on 21 Sep 2012
Starting line action at the 2011 Heaven Can Wait race. Everything from 505s to Melges 32s to high tech sports boats and cruising boats off the line together. This year Kiteboarders will join the fleet. Blake Middleton
The seventh Heaven Can Wait 24 hour race (with 12 hour and 30 Nm One Lap Dash options) will be held on Lake Macquarie in just over one weeks time, starting on Saturday September 29 at 1100 hours, and finishing on Sunday September 30.

Once again, this year's event promises to be a great spectacle -- including not only the high-speed foiling moths and 18 foot skiffs that have participated in previous years, but also a fleet of kite surfers, looking to celebrate their recent elevation to an Olympic sport.

Entries are open up until the day before the race -- but organisers are requesting that entries come in as soon as possible to ease the load on the handicappers and other race officials.

And as in previous years, all funds raised by the event go towards mens cancer research and support programs.

For those coming up the coast, the Swansea Channel issues of the past few years have been well and truly fixed; dredging has been carried out throughout 2012 -- and is continuing, giving depths of at least 2.5 m throughout the channel.

Tide times over the next week will be ideal for either overnight or daytime passages: Please go here for more details: www.bom.gov.au/oceanography/tides/MAPS/nsw.shtml.

Moorings can be arranged through Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto, which is a very welcoming and friendly club. And the lake is a great place to sail around for a few days following the regatta.
