The owner-skippered Waka Huia are the 2016 Harken Young 88 National Champions. Bill Dalbeth and his crew of Richard Bicknell, Ross Weauer, Chris Maddock, Oliver Scott Mackie, Ian Vickers and Ned Dalbeth-Hudson are the 2016 Harken Young 88 National Champions. Dalbeth also claimed the Tanaka Cup for first owner driver on Waka Huia. The tem scored 17 points over the regatta, with an eighth, two third’s and two guns.

The Harken Young 88 Nationals 2016 got underway in light winds off in the Hauraki Gulf, off Rangitoto Island. The Harken Young 88 Nationals 2016 got underway in light winds off in the Hauraki Gulf, off Rangitoto Island. Leading the fleet is RNZYS skipper Nathan Williams and his crew on Slipstream III, who sailed a consistent day with a third, and two fourth’s.

RNZYS - Kristin School wins 2016 Harken Schools Regatta
The Kristin School team have won the 2016 Harken School Regatta in dramatic fashion The Kristin School team of Henry Haslett, Oscar Gunn, Leonard Takahashi, and Lachlan Grimwade have won the 2016 Harken School Regatta in dramatic fashion. After staging a dramatic recovery from a seventh in the first race of the day the team took line honours in the next three races and a second in the final race to win the Championship.

The Rangitoto College team lead on day two of the Harken Schools Regatta with a total of 12 points. The Rangitoto College team lead on day two of the Harken Schools Regatta with a total of 12 points. This year’s event has attracted 19 school teams from all over New Zealand. From as far south as Nelson College and as far north as KeriKeri High School. The 19 teams have been split into two Groups the second 9 teams ‘Qualifying B Group’ completed 5 races on the Waitamata Harbour

The Hutt International Boys School lead on day one of the Harken Schools Regatta with a total of 12 points. The Hutt International Boys School lead on day one of the Harken Schools Regatta with a total of 12 points. This year’s event has attracted 19 school teams from all over New Zealand. From as far south as Nelson College and as far north as KeriKeri High School. The 19 teams have been split into two Groups the first 10 teams ‘Qualifying A’ completed 5 races on the Waitamata Harbour today.

The Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show featured several working activities aimed at giving people their first taste of water sports The Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show featured several working activities aimed at giving people their first taste of water sports. In the Weta Dinghy Central hall, North Sails and Harken provided the gear and sails to run a spinnaker hoist and lowering race.

Flash Gordon has narrow win at 2014 Harken Young 88 Nationals
Emirates Team New Zealand’s Jeremy Lomas Flash Gordon wins tightly contested 2014 HARKEN Young 88 National Championships Jeremy Lomas and his crew on Flash Gordon came from behind to win the 2014 Harken Young 88 National Championships by 2 points over Dangerzone in what was a top performance under pressure on the final day. Flash Gordon couldn’t have had a worse start to Day 2, after receiving a black flag disqualification in the first race of the day.

DangerZone leads after first day of racing in Young 88 Nationals
Three race wins not enough for Flash Gordon as Dangerzone slips ahead by one point on Day 1 of Harken Y88 Nationals Lincoln Fraser and his Dangerzone crew, who finished second behind Flash Gordon (Helm: Mike Sanderson) in 2013, kept themselves ahead of their rivals with three fourth place finishes backed up by a first, a second & a fifth, this was good enough to place them at the top of the podium after day one, albeit by one point.
