The wind gods smiled once again for the last day of the Laser Standard Masters World Championship 2016 Laser Standard Masters World Championship - The wind gods smiled once again for the last day of the Laser Standard Masters World Championship, capping off the regatta with epic sailing conditions for the final two races of the event. The sailors enjoyed winds of 12-16 knots off the coast of Riviera Nayarit, Mexico to wrap up this year’s event in spectacular style.

Frantic finish as 2016 Para World Sailing champions are crowned
There were points cushions in both the SKUD18 for Monika Gibes and Piotr and in the 2.4 Norlin OD for Heiko Kroeger. There were points cushions in both the SKUD18 for Poland's Monika Gibes and Piotr Cichocki and in the 2.4 Norlin OD for Germany's Heiko Kroeger heading in to the last day of racing and both held on to win gold. The Sonar was a different matter with gold switching hands throughout a thrilling final race.

Para Worlds came to a thrilling conclusion during Delta Lloyd Regatta
The 2.4 Norlin OD was up first with Heiko Kroger (GER) capitalising on his overnight lead to take his ninth world title. While the other para fleets were reasonably secure the 16 boat Sonar fleet kept everyone guessing right down to the final leg. Alphonsus Doerr/Hugh Freund/Brad Kendell (USA) had led overnight twice and held a four point margin into the final day. Victory was not secure until the end of the tense final leg, with a third place enough to take the world title.

Delta Lloyd Regatta – Great conditions and tense racing on final day
First Dutch glory went to Dorian van Rijsselberghe (NED), who ended the week as he began it – by winning the race. With five wins in the 39 boat fleet he has dominated all week, never outside the top 10 and only twice outside the top four, and ending up with a points margin of 41.

Intense competition through all the fleets at 2016 Delta Lloyd Regatta
Para Sailing Worlds are heading for an exciting conclusion on Saturday with medals still up for grabs in all classes. The penultimate day of the 2016 Para Sailing World Championships in Medemblik brought the best conditions of the week so far with an onshore onshore breeze building through the day to 12-16 knots by the end of racing. With sunny skies and great competition it was a near perfect day to be on the water.
