Delta Lloyd Regatta - Final showdown for Canadian sailors

At the Delta Lloyd Regatta, the competitors were once again greeted to solid conditions, with the wind ranging from 8-15 knots across the race areas, differing degrees of variability on each of the courses but nonetheless challenging racing conditions.

Head Coach Ken Dool says 'We thought spring sailing in Canada would fully prep us for the temperatures of European spring, we might have been wrong, it was cold today. Cold defined as visible breath; cold. The only thing missing was the snow.'

The Canucks took turns putting up scores across our three fleets, top performances included a 9, 2 from Kyle Martin in the Laser Silver Fleet, providing a lift in spirits after a challenging week. Brenda Bowskill moved up to 15th overall on the back of a 10 and a four sandwiched around a less favorable 21.

Greg Douglas had a frustrating end to his day when the scores were tallied and he fell just short by a single point of the Medal Race cut-off (top six). David Wright continued to ascend the result sheet to sit 12th overall, after an 18, 3, 15 in the Laser Gold fleet.

Racing continues tomorrow with Medal races across all of the classes for the top six competitors, and final fleet races for all other competitors. Medemblik looks to round the week out with another day of solid conditions all be it remaining chilly and the odds of rain remaining in the 'it will rain at some point for sure' Delta Lloyd Regatta website Canadian Sailing Team
