The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s Midnight Rambler is so enthusiastic to make the start line for ANZ Sail Fiji that they are already sending through their crew details for the race.

Leaps and bounds ahead of the fleet, Midnight Rambler’s Chris Rockell contacted Race Management at Royal Akarana Yacht Club to get their documentation submissions in full swing.

'I don’t know if now is the time or we are a bit early, but I have a list of crew names with their current qualifications!' said Rockwell. The crew list will also include three Kiwi sailors, making Midnight Rambler a favourite for the locals and the Australians.

It’s great to see that the fleet who are planning to race are keen to get their entry information in ahead of time. It definitely makes the process a lot easier for the management team who collate, check and file the details.

Auckland local Christiaan Arns entered his boat Notorious into the ANZ Sail Fiji Race just days before embarking on the 2014 Round North Island Race.

'Get my boat on the entry list!' stated Arns, who is also incredibly excited about taking on an adventure to Fiji in June this year.

ANZ Sail Fiji kicks off on Saturday 7th June with the expected entry list set to reach the 30 mark.

'This could be the largest offshore race to leave New Zealand waters in over 20 years,' said RAYC Committee Member and Sail Fiji organiser Rodney Keenan. 'It’s going to be epic!'

The entry list for the race currently sits at eight, with seven monohulls a one multihull being Team Vodafone Sailing, the ORMA 60, who is no stranger to international adventures like ANZ Sail Fiji.

ANZ Sail Fiji isn’t just for the racers and cruisers. Families are encouraged to make the short trip across to meet their partners after the race and perhaps stay on for a fantastic holiday at one of Fiji’s amazing resorts.
