Charlie Ogletree, China Team Skipper and wing trimmer, who took over from Mitch Booth in 2011, has announced he has decided to resign from China Team.

Charles S. 'Charlie' Ogletree (born October 11, 1967 in Greenville, North Carolina) has been a four-time Olympian, and Olympic silver medalist.

Ogletree competed in the Tornado class at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Ogletree, won a silver medal in the Tornado class with John Lovell.

Ogletree will be mainsail trimmer/tactician on the Oman Air Extreme 40 for the 2012 season as well as be competing in the highly competitive Melges 32 circuit.

In a statement today Ogletree thanks China Team for their time together and wishes them the best of luck in the future.

He cites differences with the management of the team and his departure is for his professional reasons. He concludes 'I am sad to leave the America’s Cup arena, but intend to return in the future.'
