ANZ Sail Fiji has received its first casualty with Hamish Milne and his Moody Blue crew heading to Opua.
At the 0630 sked this morning, Moody Blue advised they had broken the gooseneck on their boom and were heading to Opua for repairs.
'We have suffered a broken boom goose neck fitting overnight and are now currently motoring to Opua to ascertain repair viability,' advised Milne during the mandatory scheduling report.
When they arrive in Opua repair work will be undertaken and a decision to continue to Denarau will be made.
Meanwhile, Sharpe Focus is steaming towards to Fiji at approximately 7 knots. Both yachts are competing in the Cruising division of the race, the Racing division gets underway on Saturday at 11.00am
At 4.00pm Hamish Milne and his Moody Blue crew reported they were ' all fixed now and are keen to get back on track,' said Milne just before departing once more.
Milne is a sponsor of ANZ Sail Fiji and provided all the container shipping and logistics through his company Burnard International.
The racing fleet had their trackers fitted today which are now showing up on the tracking page
