2014 - 2015 Barcelona World Race - Alex Thomson and Pepe Ribes have broken the Barcelona World Race record to the Gibraltar Straights.

Hugo Boss had an amazing start to the Barcelona World Race 2014-2015. The Race started on the 31st December 2014 at 13.00. Hugo Boss crossed the pin end of the start line first, placing them in the lead for the first mark rounding.

Thomson and Ribes skippers of Hugo Boss entered the Gibraltar Straights in record time this evening at 19.30. It has taken Thomson and Ribes 2 days 7 hours and 35 minutes to get to the straights a critical area of the race. In previous editions the straights have provided the fleet with some of the windiest conditions in the race. The winds and sea state increase in this part of the race as the IMOCA 60’s race to leave the Mediterranean and head towards South Africa.

The attention to detail from the Technical Team has played a huge part in securing the success of Hugo Boss so far in the BWR 2014-2015. Ross Daniel, Technical Director, Alex Thomson Racing says ‘Alex and Pepe are performing better than expected, we couldn’t ask for more. The technical team have worked round the clock to ensure that Hugo Boss is race ready.’
