Mini Video- The Drumstick yacht won the main Racing class again at the Phuket Kings Cup regatta

The final and fifth day's race on Saturday 9 December started in easing conditions, but along the way there were difficult windless holes. Gradually the fleet ghosted round the marker buoy, with boats heading offshore looking for the sea breeze.

The award presentation ceremony took place on Saturday evening. The grand event was presided over by HM the King's personal representative, Mom Luang Usani Pramoj. Among the many classes, the Royal Thai Navy 1 skippered by Lt. Peera Sagultem won the IRC 2 class for the 5th time again while Master Blaster with a Russian crew came second and Minx from Thailand came third. The big boats in the main Racing 1 division were 'neck and neck' on points battling for the major King's Cup trophy. Dhevatara Drumstick, the second smallest boat in the racing fleet was one of the few to find some speed. The happy team on Drumstick achieved their goal and were presented with the King's Cup for the second year in a row. Hi Fi was second and Island Fling finished third. First time British skipper Toby O'Connell, based in UAE, told us after the royal presentation of prizes how it happened:
