Touch o Glass scores another win Event Media

The Marauder National Championship regatta was held in the Tamaki Strait off the Pine Harbour Marina in near ideal conditions for the two day competition. The annual event is organised as a joint effort by the Marauder 8.4 Owners Association Inc and the Pine Harbour Cruising Club Inc.

Roger Bayliss regarded as the old fox, complete with a double knee replacement three years ago won the Marauder National Champions cup and the Barry Olliff Memorial Trophy for the second year in a row.

Roger sailing 'Touch O Glass' with his well tuned crew won 3 of the 4 windward / leeward races on the Saturday and then went on to show a clean pair of heals to everyone in the Passage Rock race on the Sunday.

The weather was near perfect with breezes in the 15 to 25 knots on the Saturday and 15 to 20 knots for the Sunday’s longer fleet race. Even a rain squall during the Saturdays racing didn’t dampen the spirits with close competition within the two divisions.

A very special prize from Emirates Team New Zealand of a day out on the new ETNZ TP 52 in race testing mode, was taken by the second place-getter in the regatta, Richard Power sailing 'Pacific Dogwood'.

Richard was blown away with the surprise award. Having the opportunity to be the 16th man on the rail of the new TP 52 would have to rate as a unique and exciting way to spend a day. He was expecting the ride of his life while watching the ETNZ crew in action. His day out was scheduled for the Thursday following the regatta and can only be described 'as mind blowing! utterly brilliant!'

Results from the Marauder 8.4 National Championship Regatta.
