Interdominion 12' Skiff Championships - Dimension Polyant first up win

Tight racing in light airs, Heat 3 - 12ft Skiff Interdominion Selection Trials Eddie Markey

The 2010 Interdominions 12' Skiff Championships are being held at the Auckland Sailing Club, Okahu Bay, Auckland from 9 - 17 January 2010. This is the major regatta for the class and is hosted in alternate years between Australia and New Zealand.

On Day one Dimension Polyant (Nick Press) took out race 1, leading almost from start to finish, in a 18 knots SouthWesterly.

Nice Action Too (Hamish Hey) got out to an early lead at the first mark rounding, before capsizing down the spinnaker run. Dimension Polyant took over the lead and held off another late charge from Nice Action Too, who finished second, Frankinskiff (Tim Bartlett) finished third.

The New Zealand team won the day, 110pts to 180pts.

The 2010 interdominion marks the 50th Anniversary of the event.

The 12ft skiff is a development class sailed in New Zealand and Australia (New South Wales and Queensland).

Big Open Day crowds for Lake Samsonvale WSA
Over 280 people flocked to the LSWSA clubhouse and grassed lake foreshore Cars started flooding into the Lake Samsonvale Water Sports Association from eight O'clock on Sunday morning and kept volunteers busy directing traffic until late afternoon as the grassed and treed parking areas around the club house filled.
