ISAF Sailing World Championships – Team Maclaren finalise their preparations for Perth 2011.

Anna Tunnicliffe:

We wrapped up the practice regatta on Tuesday afternoon in perfect conditions. We sailed a good regatta and finished second overall. We had great racing against all teams in conditions that varied from 2-10kt, auto tacks in a dying gradient breezes, up to 20-25kt sea breeze.

We had eight teams total sailing, although the day before one of the boats broke a rudder so only seven could sail at a time and on the last race of the day a boat lost its rig, so a few races went unsailed, but everyone seemed to enjoy the idea of the regatta.

We took yesterday off and didn't do anything sailing related besides hitting the gym in the morning and seeing the PT post gym. It was the relaxing day that we needed before the start of racing on Saturday at noon.

Today we had a short practice and completed registration. Tomorrow is the opening ceremony in Perth and then it will be final preparations for racing.

You can check out the regatta on the regatta website before it starts and while it is happening here. (FYI: Perth/Freemantle is 13hr ahead of EST in the States or UTC+8hr).

Sail Hard,
