Hearing outcome delivers Alfa Romeo third place
by Lisa Ratcliff on 27 Aug 2005
This afternoon’s protest hearing has accepted the case put forward by Neville Crichton’s Alfa Romeo and an adjustment in the amount of redress awarded to Stephen Ainsworth’s Loki for an incident in yesterday’s Baynham Island Race has resulted in the New Zealand super maxi moving into third place on IRC Overall results for the 2005 Hamilton Island Hahn Premium Race Week.
Loki was originally awarded 2 minutes 50 seconds redress for assisting a man overboard in yesterday’s Baynham Island Race but at this afternoon’s hearing, after taking evidence from a number of witnesses, the Jury decided to reduce this to 2 minutes 30 seconds.
This decision put Alfa Romeo and Loki on equal points and delivered the 98-foot Alfa Romeo a third overall in the IRC pointscore on a count back.
Bob Oatley’s Wild Oats is the Overall IRC winner of Hamilton Island Race Week and Steven David’s Wild Joe finished second.
