Hayling Island SC Open Autumn series

The Hayling Island SC Open Autumn series has seen a turnout of over 100 boats taking part in the various classes over each Saturday and Sunday. The Solo class top the figures, with over 20 boats taking part in both the Saturday and Sunday racing.

After four weekends, Nick Rawlings leads the Solo Sunday series with Tony Catchpole in second and Chris Powles third. David Sayce, who has concentrated on the Saturday series where he leads, made his first appearance this Sunday and took first place.

The other singehander class in the series, the RS700, are doing two races each day. Leader is Simon Letten, chased by Jerome Baker with Adam Goldins in third.

Most popular of the two man classes is the Flying Fifteen. Peter and Sue Bannister have a comfortable lead here, although Henry Smith and Matt Alvarado won this weekends race on their first outing.

In the handicap classes, Neil Upton-Brown leads the fast series in a Musto Skiff, ahead of Mike Lennon in a Foiler Moth. The Medium handicap sees Kieth Walker back in his Fireball with new crew Rhys Pickett and holding a one point advantage over Simon and Jackie Lytton also in a Fireball. Iain Palme leads teh Slow handicap in his Laser Radial.

The HISC Autumn Open continues each weekend until 20/21 December. The Christmas Cracker Open handicap will take place on the 27 December this year.
