Spring is here and the sailing community around Australia is buzzing to get out and spend more time on the water! But no matter where around the world we sail or what time of year it is, with the hours we spend outdoors and on the water, caution and protection from our beautiful but 'cruel' sun is of major importance!
Hear from Australian Olympic Team gold medallist Nathan Outteridge about the importance of sun protection, the Australian Sailing Team's ambassador partnership with Melanoma Patients Australia Ltd and why this is a cause so close to his heart.
The members of the Australian Sailing Team are ambassadors for Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA) with the aim to raise Melanoma awareness around protection and early detection in the Sailing Community.
Skin cancer and awareness around Melanoma is an important topic we need to educate about, especially with the risk always being present out on the water.
The AST partners with MPA in conjunction with team sponsor Nautica®. The partnership sees 10% of sales from Nautica’s official AST-branded merchandise go toward MPA. An additional 10% of sales go to the AST’s Road to Rio campaign and support the team in their quest to win gold medals in Olympic and Paralympic class Sailing, which will aid in raising further awareness and support for the MPA.
Support this cause as well as the team by shopping for some Nautica Australian Sailing Team gear via
website.
MPA is the non-profit organisation offering a national network of support and information to melanoma patients, their families, carers and friends.
