Mike Golding's bid to be on the start line of the Vendee Globe in November is in doubt after Gamsea dismasted during a training sail off Thorness Bay on Wednesday.
The Volvo Ocean Race battle for the lead tightens as Puma Ocean Racing manage to keep Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand and Team Telefónica at bay. The breeze is lightening off and its is possible that the rest of the fleet will catch the front runners.
The Kiwi-Australian duo of Conrad Colman and Scott Cavanough have taken first place in the Global Ocean Race leg 4 from Punta del Este, Uruguay, to South Carolina USA.
The eyes of the sailing world will be on Stresa, Italy for the ISAF Mid-Year Meeting. Hot topics up for discussion are the evaluation trials for the Women’s Skiff and Mixed Multihull equipment and kiteboarding format for the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition.
The Laser Radial Worlds Youth and Mens 2012 NOR and online entry is now available. The World Laser Radial Youth Championship 2012 will be from Thursday 28th June and to Wednesday 4th July and will be followed by the World Laser Radial Men's Championship 2012, Wednesday 11th July to Tuesday 17th July, at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in sunny Queensland, Australia.
The UK Finn Festival starts May 5 in Falmouth. This will be followed by the Finn Gold Cup. Being so close to the Olympics and to be sailed under similar conditions as Weymouth, the Gold Cup line up is impressive.
