We have the wrap on Audi Hamilton Island Race Week today and news from Sail Townsville
Its a chilly 26 degree winters day in Townsville today, with a bright blue sky. When we hit the button on this newsletter, we are off to the Strand for a late lunch. Looking ahead to SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week, the first race is on Friday, it will be 28-29 over the weekend, so we won't be so bloody cold.
We are reporting on the 2013 Byte CII World Championship in North America at the moment, 22 countries there, aiming to qualify for the 2014 Youth Olympics. Sadly no Aussies there, but with purpose designed youth dinghy, the Byte CII now available in Australia we expect to see Australia striving for Youth Olympic qualification soon.
Emirates Team New Zealand completed the first stage of its America’s Cup challenge by summarily defeating Luna Rossa in the eighth race of the Louis Vuitton Cup final to bring the score to a definitive 7 -1.
San Francisco lived up to its reputation and its pseudonym 'Fog City' for this race. It was down on the course for much of the race and hitherto unused techniques were pressed into service. Navigation was no longer an eyeball affair but one of calculation and the Kiwis were up to this extra challenge.
We have John Navas vision, images from Chuck Lantz and Linda Wright and the fine words of the Fish as our comprehensive AC reporting continues, with the Red Bull ahead. RG will be there soon too.
