Free Open Day including Discover Sailing at Southport Yacht Club

Southport Yacht Club (SYC) will host a Free 'Open Day including Discover Sailing' at the Club’s Main Beach facility, 1 Macarthur Parade, Main Beach on Sunday 31st May 2015.

Open to all, the Discover Sailing Day is aimed at increasing public awareness in sailing, especially amongst children, promoting the message: Sailing is for everyone – it can be cheap, simple, safe and fun!

SYC will also be showcasing other facilities that it has to offer, including a newly built children’s playground, learn to sail programs, kids party packages and even a visit from the animals at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary with plenty of photo opportunities. The adults haven’t been left out with other facilities including; Australia’s first Waterscape Pontoon Bar, newly built gym facilities, appearances from the Gold Coast Titans, hair styles and makeup by Stefan Hairdressing, great food and beverage with waterfront dining and much, much more.

The event is open to everyone, with children and adults given the opportunity to ‘go for a sail’, under the guidance of qualified instructors. Buoyancy vests and all sailing equipment is provided. Attendees will need to bring swimmers, hat, sunscreen, towel, old sandshoes and a desire to have fun!

Breakfast and coffees will be available from 7am, lunch and live entertainment to follow from 12noon.

SYC’s Open Day and Free Discover Sailing Day commences at 9am and concludes at 2pm, open to all SYC Members, guest and visitor.
