Zhik becomes Official Clothing Partner to the Extreme Sailing Series

As it enters the 2017 season, the Extreme Sailing Series™ has established an exciting new partnership with the high-performance clothing brand, Zhik.

In a five-year deal, Zhik, which specialises in technical sailing apparel, becomes the Official Clothing Partner to the global Series, which attracts some of the world’s top sailors, racing hydro-foiling GC32 catamarans on short-courses close to the shore.

Alongside this new partnership, the Series also welcomes the return of three of its longstanding Series partners, Land Rover, SAP and GAC Pindar, as it continues to offer a platform for prestigious global brands throughout its eight-Act global season.



Zhik CEO, David Crow is looking forward to the partnership: “The whole team at Zhik is super-excited to be working with the Extreme Sailing Series team over the next five years,” he said.

“Bringing together Zhik’s high performance disruptive technology in sailing apparel, with the Extreme Sailing Series’ speed, power and edgy excitement, is a spectacular combination that we have all discovered in the last few months working together.

“Personally I cannot wait to see the first race in Muscat, Oman, on March 8 and we look forward to a superb partnership over the next five years, with plenty of high speed exhilarating racing on the water,” he added.

To celebrate the “high speed exhilarating racing” at each Act the team that reaches the fastest speed in their GC32 during racing will be awarded the “Zhik Trophy”.

Andy Tourell, Event Director of the Extreme Sailing Series commented: “Zhik’s innovative and high-performance brand perfectly complements the Series and what we stand for. I am really looking forward to seeing the partnership unfold as we launch into the Series’ eleventh season.”



One unique attraction of the Extreme Sailing Series is its Guest Sailor programme, which last year saw more than 900 people take a ride on a flying GC32 during racing. This new partnership will see Guest Sailors at each of the Acts kitted out, head-to-toe, in Zhik’s latest protective gear, including helmets and buoyancy aids.

The Official Clothing Partner will also activate at a number of events, with official Extreme Sailing Series-branded Zhik merchandise on sale to fans in the free-to-enter public Race Villages. The merchandise will also be available online. To find out more about Zhik click here.

The 2017 Extreme Sailing Series season gets underway in five weeks’ time in Muscat, Oman. Spectators can view the racing for free from the vantage point at the Al Mouj golf course or follow online through the official social media and YouTube channels.
