Team España, el equipo español de la Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 liderado por los medallistas olímpicos Iker Martínez y Xabi Fernández, llegará a Alicante hoy a las 12:30 horas aproximadamente.


El Volvo Ocean 65 patroneado por el donostiarra salió de la base de entrenamiento del equipo en Sanjenjo el pasado día 30 de agosto. La parte más dura de la travesía, comentaba el tripulante Antonio 'Ñeti' Cuervas-Mons, ha sido cruzar el Estrecho de Gibraltar, donde 'el barco chocó contra cinco OFNI (Objetos Flotantes No Identificados). Tuvimos que dar marcha atrás más de tres veces con vientos de más de 25 nudos y cargueros pasando a nuestro lado'.


Team España, que será el cuarto equipo en amarrar en el Puerto de Salida de la Volvo Ocean Race, ha realizado el resto de la travesía con viento suave y sin Volvo Ocean Race website
