Volvo Ocean Race - Último ataque antes de Itajaí

Itajaí se prepara para um final emocionante na quinta etapa da Volvo Ocean Race. Quatro barcos - Abu Dhabi, MAPFRE, Team Alvimedica e Team Brunel - se aproximam da linha de chegada quase empatados, com diferença menor do que 15 quilômetros entre eles. Os barcos já sobem o Atlântico na altura do Rio Grande do Sul e devem terminar a travessia de mais de 12 mil quilômetros neste domingo (5). Por isso, os tripulantes preparam o último ataque para obter uma melhor posição final.



A expectativa é que milhares de pessoas lotem a Vila da Regata em Itajaí para receber os barcos. A stopover foi aberta na noite passada e a previsão da organização local é levar mais de 300 mil pessoas. Todos certamente querem saudar o brasileiro André 'Bochecha' Fonseca, único do País na Volta ao Mundo. O atleta integra o MAPFRE, que estava na disputa pela liderança na última na última previsão da manhã deste sábado (4). 'Precisamos saber defender antes de atacar o Abu Dhabi', falou André 'Bochecha' Fonseca. 'Nosso objetivo claro é pegar pódio, ainda melhor terminar em primeiro e dedicar a vitória à torcida brasileira, que certamente conta as horas para a nossa chegada'.



O Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing (Ian Walker / GBR) tem pequena vantagem, com com MAPFRE (Iker Martínez / ESP), Equipe Brunel (Bouwe Bekking / HOL) e Team Alvimedica (Charlie Enright / EUA) na cola

A perna entre a Nova Zelândia e o Brasil é a mais difícil de todas. Os barcos pegaram um ciclone na Oceania, gelo nos Mares do Sul, contornaram icebergs e o Cabo Horn, e agora se aproximam do Brasil. O Dongfeng Race Team (Charles Caudrelier / FRA) quebrou o mastro e está a caminho de Itajaí a motor. O barco feminino Team SCA (Sam Davies/GBR) está sofrendo e só deve chegar em Itajaí na semana que vem.

A vitória daria ao Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing uma vantagem de sete pontos no topo da classificação, mas com quatro pernas para o fim do campeonato, ainda é impossível dizer quem vai ser o campeão.
