2014 - 15 Volvo Ocean Race - Last night at sea for Team SCA. The magenta boat is now 300 nautical miles from Itajaí, sailing along the Brazilian coast in 18 knots of southern breeze. The wind has decreased in the last hours and shifted 40 degrees to the right.

The girls are east of Porto Alegre – they’re actually 25nm offshore, the closer a boat has been to the Brazilian shore in this leg.

They’re expected in Itajaí tomorrow, Tuesday 7, between 1000 and 1200 UTC. That’s 0700 and 0900 local time – just on time for a good breakfast.

As for Dongfeng, the delivery crew is currently doing seven knots of boatspeed in seven knots of wind under jury big.

“From the moment I received ‘the call’ from Charles onboard at 02.17 GMT on Mon 30th until now, some 700 miles into our 2,000 mile journey from Ushuaia to Itajaí, life seems to have gone into a strange parallel universe,” wrote their boat captain Graham Tourell in a mail from the boat today.

“But I can promise you one thing… Dongfeng Race Team will give it a bloody good go and give it everything we have!

'Watch this space but for now, we still have 1300 miles to go until we have got the boat to Itajaí.”
