Volvo Ocean Race - Barco de brasileiro ganha regata local de Lisboa

Volvo Ocean Race - O barco espanhol MAPFRE venceu, neste sábado (6), a regata local de Lisboa, em Portugal. Apesar de não somar pontos no campeonato - serve apenas como desempate - o resultado na in-port race anima a tripulação do brasileiro André 'Bochecha' Fonseca a tentar uma reviravolta nas próximas duas etapas da Volvo Ocean Race. Com cinco pontos de desvantagem para a zona do pódio, os espanhóis precisam ser rápidos e acertar na estratégias em pernas de curta duração. Neste domingo (7), os barcos largam para a oitava etapa da Volta ao Mundo entre Lisboa e a francesa Lorient.

'Nossa equipe demonstra que está cada vez mais bem entrosada, inclusive quando o resultado não aparece. Acredito que se o MAPFRE não tivesse começado a campanha muito tarde, a gente certamente estaria disputando uma posição com os primeiros barcos', disse o brasileiro.

André Fonseca explicou como foi a vitória na in-port. 'Conseguimos entender a correnteza local e isso acabou nos beneficiando. Nosso plano foi bem executado! A regata ficou bem disputada entre a gente e o Abu Dhabi'.

A prova foi disputada no Rio Tejo e teve 2.5 voltas das 3 previstas. O vento acabou nos metros finais antecipando o fim e a máxima durante a regata foi de 10 nós.Foi a segunda vitória consecutiva do MAPFRE nesse tipo de regata - ganhou também em Newport. Os resultados nas in-ports servem como desempate no final do campeonato. Restam 14 pontos em disputa nas próximas duas etapas.
