Vier Top-Ten-Platzierungen in Weltrangliste

Kurz vor Weihnachten veröffentlicht der Weltseglerverband, die ISAF, alljährlich den letzten Stand (09. Dezember 2013) der Weltranglisten in den olympischen Klassen. Vier Teams aus dem Audi Sailing Team Germany überwintern unter den besten zehn Teams ihrer Klassen.

Die guten Ergebnisse der SeglerInnen der Segel-Nationalmannschaft im Jahr 2013 spiegeln sich auch in den Weltranglisten wieder. Besonders in den Skiffklassen spielen die deutschen SeglerInnen vorne mit. Tina Lutz und Susann Beucke beenden ihre erste Saison im 49erFX auf dem vierten Platz. Ihre Teamkolleginnen Victoria Jurczok und Anika Lorenz belegen Rang sechs. Bei den Männern im 49er sichern sich Erik Heil und Thomas Plößel den fünften Platz.

Im 470er beenden Jan-Jasper Wagner und Dustin Baldwein ihre erfolgreiche Saison auf dem neunten Rang.

Paul Elvstrom - Sailing’s true Champion
Ralph Roberts (NZL) competed with Paul Elvstrom in the 1960 Olympics in the singlehanded Finn class. Ralph Roberts tell of how he first met his great friend Paul Elvstrom in 1958 - Late in the afternoon I had a tap on my shoulder by a big man who spoke to me in broken English” do you need a hand I can help you make this Finn go faster”. To my surprise it was Paul Elvstrom Triple Olympic Gold medalist from Denmark, whom I had only seen a photo of him before.

Paul Elvstrom - Jesper Bank reflects for the Elvstrom Sails team
Paul Elvstrøm has passed away at the age of 88 years. “We are saddened to hear that this great sailor and personality has passed away” Jesper Bank expresses with his deepest condolences to the Elvstrøm family. “Pride is the first thing that comes into my mind.
