Trofeo Princesa Sofia - British 470 sailors pushing for win

Trofeo Princesa Sofia - “There is no reason why we couldn’t win, it is totally feasible”, insure British 470 sailors Luke Patience and Elliot Willis, who have teamed up only a year ago, have been around the 470 scene for over a decade.

In Palma, Patience and Willis have for objective to put in action the work they have done over winter. “We are trying a few new things. We take each day as it comes, we just keep pushing and the results take care of themselves.”

Without any doubt the final objective is to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games. Luke Patience knows what it means to win a medal after winning Silver in London with Stuart Bithell. “This is our main target of course, this is what all sailors want! We will need to plan our season well between training and racing. With the World Cup circuit and then the test event, there is not much spare time. Our next stop is Hyeres but our big objective this year is to take the world championship.”

Patience and Willis are also biking a lot to complete their physical preparations. “This is something easy to do here in Mallorca, there are plenty of opportunities to go riding but we need also to avoid injuries and not risk our participation in regattas.”
