These were really hard races at the 125th Travemünde Week for the Tornado European Championship. Physical and mental we went to our limits. Especially the first two days with strong winds and high waves from the northeast we had some wild rides with the Tornado catamaran. The stable high-pressure weather system brought us exceptional and extreme sailing conditions which were a real challenge for the 25 Teams from 8 Nations. We were glad we and our boat had survived this rough sailing.
With places two-two-two-four-three we were at halftime after five races to second place. The Greek team Iordanis Paschalides - Kostas Trigonis lay with many first places already well in the lead. The Swiss Martin Rusterholz - Marc Baier and other teams were close behind us. On the third day the weather situation eased a bit and it came a little lighter breeze on the Bay of Lübeck. This suited us much better and we were able to catch up with the leading Greeks with places one-one-two again. Before the final day were again close to it.
But thunderstorms and no wind made all hopes dashed that we can sail the final race. So we were again European Champions in the Mixed and vice-champion in the open ranking. We are very pleased to have laid such a constant series at such different wind condition. Now we celebrate :-) Results
