Slovenian Sailing Federation announces 2014 ISAF Youth Worlds team

After a series of international sailing events that served as a basis for selection, the Slovenian Sailing Federation recognized three talented athletes for significant sailing achievements in the Laser Radial and 29er.

In addition, as a new class representative, Slovenia have added an athlete to compete in the Boy's Board event.

Altogether four sailors will represent Slovenia. They are:

Boy's one person dinghy - Laser Radial - Marko Radman
Open Skiff - 29er - Peter Lin Janezic and Anze Podlogar
Boy's Board - RS:X - Matjaz Puh

They are proud to be selected and will do their best to represent Slovenia and the sport of SAF Youth Worlds Website

The one million dollar Match Race
Competitive yacht racing’s biggest ever first prize bonus is set to go to the winner of the 2016 WMRT final in Marstrand US$ one million, is roughly Euro 885,000, AUS$ 1.35m or NZL$ 1.4m - more than enough to buy more than three of the high performance M32 catamarans that will contest the WMRT Marstrand for the first time, taking over from the perennial D37 monohulls used at the event for the last 20 years.

32 females and 54 males crews sailing to gain 470 Junior Worlds’ title

Kiel Week reaches the traditional transition phase
Olympic fleets have several top international sailors seeking a final competition at this last major all classes event. The 470 Junior World Championships start Wednesday and have attracted 85 crews racing in Men’s and Women’s fleets. The Men’s field sees France’s Guillaume Pirouelle and Valentin Sipan out to defend their title as Italy’s Benedetta di Salle and Alessandra Dubini seek to do also in the Women’s championship.

British Finn class takes new youth initiative ahead of U23 Finn Worlds
U23 squad consists of six sailors between the ages 16-19 and is coached by ex British Sailing Team member James Hadden. The inspiration for the project came from the British Finn Association (BFA) trying to provide a structured pathway for young sailors who outgrow classes such as the Laser (more than 90kg) to continue into the Finn class at a high level.
