Barcelona World Race - Renault Captur a quitté les pontons de Wellington ce matin, à 05h00 TU, après 30 heures d’arrêt technique pour réparer leur safran tribord. Derrière eux, Spirit of Hungary se déroute depuis la nuit dernière (TU) vers Bluff à l’extrémité de l’île du Sud de la Nouvelle-Zélande afin de réparer le chariot de têtière de grand-voile.

Actuels septièmes de la Barcelona World Race, Nandor Fa et Conrad Colman vont manquer l’occasion de rattraper voire de dépasser Renault Captur, dont l’arrêt technique à Wellington s’est achevé ce matin, à 5h00 TU. De retour aux affaires, Jörg Riechers, le skipper allemand, s’est dit très satisfait ce matin des réparations de leur safran tribord, effectuées grâce à un réseau d’amis vivant en Nouvelle-Zélande : « Nous sommes prêts à nouveau ! Nous avons perdu quelque 2000 milles et deux places au classement, mais nous n’y pouvons rien. »

Nandor Fa et Conrad Colman progressaient, ce matin à 6h00 TU, à 550 milles de Bluff, le port situé au sud d’Invercargill et ils sont attendus sur place demain, mardi 24 février, dans la soirée (TU). Les conditions de navigation sont favorables avec des vents de nord de 20 à 25 nœuds jusqu’à l’approche de leur point de chute où ils molliront à 15 nœuds.

L’ quipage s’est battu pendant plus de deux jours pour réparer le chariot de têtière de grand-voile. Les deux skippers se sont relayés pour grimper en tête de mât et tenter de dégager le système d’accroche qui ne permettait plus de descendre ou de hisser la voile. Des amis et des proches du skipper néo-zélandais Conrad Colman, venus d’Auckland, les attendront pour les aider à réaliser rapidement les réparations. Un arrêt technique que le duo souhaite le plus court, 24 heures au minimum selon les règles de course.
