Registration opens for the TT-R Slalom European Championships

by IKA on 31 Mar 2017
TT:R Asian Championships Alexandru Baranescu
After the huge success of the first event fully held in the Youth Olympic Games format last week in Pranburi, Thailand, the action now moves on to Europe.

The 2017 TT:R Slalom European Championship will be held in a place well known from major competitions of the past years, Hang Loose Beach in the south of Italy.

Both open age fleets (men and women) and Boys and Girls (born 1999 and after) will compete over five competition days, providing a perfect testing ground for the World Championships later this year, and the Youth Olympic Qualifier Events in 2018.

Markus Schwendtner, Class Manager of the IKA said: 'The new format for kiteboard racing in the Youth Olympic Games is easy to understand for spectators and media. Having the racing action right on the beach on a limited field of play, with jumps that create just the right portion of drama, is just fantastic.'

Europe is seen to be the most fought-about continent for the upcoming continental qualifier events, therefore a high number of competitors is expected in preparation of the next championship events.

Event Facts:
Location: Hang Loose Beach, Gizzeria Lido, Italy
Registration Day: 11 July 2017
Prizegiving Day: 16 July 2017
Prize Money: 10000 EUR (open fleet)
