Yngling Women’s Worlds 2008 - yngling.org SW
Britain's defending World Champions, Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson will for sure be the team to beat at the Yngling World Championships which get underway Sunday in Maimi.

After a few days of rest, training and tuning after the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta the teams today started Measurement for the World Championship.

The first race of the regatta will be sailed on Sunday.

The venue for the regatta is the US Sailing Center and the race area is just outside in Biscayne Bay. The weather forecast is good with promises of reliable winds for the coming days.

Much is at stake at this Championship since it is the second nation qualifier for the 2008 Olympic Games. 10 Nations qualified for the Games in last years World Championship In Cascais, Portugal. With China already qualified as host nation there are four more nations that will qualify in Miami.

Defending World Champions are Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson and will for sure be the team to beat. A 5th place for Aytons team in the recent Miami OCR showed that the margins are very small in the Yngling fleet and that many teams have the experience and capacity to win this Championship.

Britain's Shirley Robertson, Annie Lush and Lucy Macgregor will be looking for a title win here, after losing out to Ayton and Co as the GBR choice for the 2008 Olympics. The multi Olympic medallist has yet to hit her best form, but this could be just the event to make her point.

84 sailors in 28 Teams from 19 nations of 5 Continents are participating in this World Championship.
