Oakcliff hosts an international battle

Oakcliff Sailing will be hosting a worldwide match racing battle during the 2014 Oakcliff International this weekend.

Twelve international teams from six different countries including Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, France, Switzerland, and the United States will begin racing on Thursday.

According to Bill Simon, Oakcliff’s Race Program Director, it is the 'most competitive group of skippers' in the history of the Oakcliff International.

The Oakcliff International, a Grade Two match race, is the final stop on the US Grand Slam Series. The US Grand Slam series also includes the Chicago Grand Slam, Detroit Cup, and Knickerbocker Cup.

Winner of the 2014 US Grand Slam series will qualify for the 2015 Chicago Match Cup, which is a stop on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour, and the 2015 Congressional Cup.

Racing will begin precisely at 10:00 am Thursday morning.
