A morning of release today on the Garda Trentino, for the third day of races of National Slalom Championships organized by Circolo Surf Torbole, in collaboration with AICW (Italian Association of Windsurfing Classes) and FIV (Italian Sailing Federation).
After the forced break of Friday, this morning the north wind up to 20 knots, didn’t let the early rising go to waste. As scheduled, first start at about 8:30 a.m. with the second semi-final of the first elimination serie followed by second women final and men winners final.
For men, the first elimination serie has been completed; for the second one instead, the winners final has been competed and then stop for the lack of wind. The winners final of the first elimination serie was won by Andrea Ferin, followed by Andrea Rosati; third place for Bruno Martini. In the second elimination serie, an immediately challenge among the “big” riders: Malte Reuscher first from the start, second place for the bearer of Circolo surf Torbole Bruno Martini and third position the Roman Andrea Rosati.
For the second elimination serie, the provisional first positions have been defined: first place for the Italian slalom champion in charge Bruno Martini, but with the same score of Andrea Rosati, who is second; third place for Andrea Ferin, fourth for Daniel Slijk, another athlete of Circolo Surf Torbole, and fifth place for Malte Reuscher. Immediately behind, young riders with Mattia Onali in sixth place, Massimiliano Loncrini seventh, Scagliola Francesco eighth and ninth place for Jacopo Renna.
Womens’ races started this morning in a somewhat abnormal way: at the start of the first heat, only Marta Maggetti started right, focusing to recover the fall of the first day, which cost her the third place. The other competitors started late, allowing Marta Maggetti to win alone. Certainly more impressive have been the following final races, with Flavia Tartaglini and Marta Maggetti got back to face with of glides and jibes. Now the two athletes, usually in races with the RS:X Olympic class board, are equal with 3.4 points: first place for Tartaglini for winning the last race. Third place for the Sicilian Bruna Ferracane with 4.6 points of distance.
In the afternoon, no regattas for the lack of south wind. Thus tomorrow, the last day of races for the assignment of the Italian slalom titles, another early wake up to take advantage of north wind, much more trusty in this season. Everything is therefor still possible and a very exciting championship's final is expected!
