At the end of a very intense European racing season, the International Audi Melges 20 Class Association is pleased to announce and name Achille Onorato's Mascalzone Latino Jr. as the overall 2014 European Ranking Champion.

It has been a golden year for Onorato along with his crew comprised of tactician Malcolm Page and bowman Stefano Campialini, as a second place finish at the World Championship held in Riva Del Garda last August helped secure the victory.

'2014 is a year to be framed,' Onorato declared. 'The only set-back we had during the Audi-Tron Sailing Series was in Porto Ercole. The icing on the cake was our second place finish at Worlds, all special thanks to my team - Malcolm and Stefano, but most especially to our coach Marco Savelli. It's a great team and we're very close knit, which has helped us better react when things didn't necessarily go the right way. To win the European Ranking is a great honor and the culmination of a fantastic year.'

The Audi Melges 20 fleet also celebrates a nine month-long season with eight sanctioned events that commenced in Monaco at the Primo Cup (won by Interational Class Chairman Manfredi Vianini Tolomei on Maolca) and ended only just 10 days ago in Germany (won by Michael Illbruck on Pinta).

More than 90 teams, representing 12 countries (Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Czech Republic, Monaco, Italy, Russia and USA) have each participated in at least one event of the European Tour.
2014 produced a strong battle with Dario Levi's Fremito D'Arja finishing second overall, followed by 2014 Audi-Tron Sailing Series Champion Guido Miani aboard Monaco Racing Fleet in third.

The European Ranking is only one part of the 2014 World Ranking Series. This weekend in San Francisco, the Pacific Coast Championship takes place acting as an incredible warm-up to the North American Championship happening on October 3-5, hosted by The San Francisco Yacht Club.
