Kieler Woche 2015 – As part of the application by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Schleswig-Holstein will be supporting the official sailing location Kiel, as the partner at Hamburg's side.

'We are very pleased to be able to make a statement to the sailing world at this year's Kieler Woche 2015 with the promise of this 'Prize money from Schleswig-Holstein', said the Minister President, Torsten Albig.

The prize money applies to the Olympic and Paralympic sailing classes and is set to the same amount as at the ISAF Sailing World Cup off Hyeres or Weymouth 2015. The first three places of these classes can expect the following distribution for Kieler Woche: 3,000 EUR for first place, 2,000 EUR for second place and 1,000 EUR for third place. This means a maximum sum of 60,000 EUR for Kieler Woche 2015.

Supporting Kieler Woche with this prize money will take place during the application phase. Over the next two years, numerous other measures will follow, which will draw worldwide attention to Kiel throughout the sailing community and thus have a positive impact on our application.

Together with the City of Kiel, all Kieler Woche organizing clubs are proud to be able to advertise the sailing location Kiel worldwide with Kieler Woche, among other things. 'There is much to be done before 2024! We are very enthusiastic about these upcoming tasks', added Nikolaus Rickers, General Manager of Point of Sailing Marketing GmbH, the marketing agency of the Kieler Yacht-Club.
