Yachting Victoria has announced the dates for the 2014 Australian leg of the ISAF Sailing World Cup.

The ISAF Sailing World Cup - Melbourne, which is the second regatta of the 2014-2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup series, will run out of the world acclaimed Sandringham Yacht Club in Melbourne Australia, from the seventh to the 14th of December 2014.

After a highly successful 2013 event that saw significant growth in entries across all fleets, as well increased International competitors, the full suite of Olympic and Paralympic Classes, will again be contested in Melbourne (470 Men's, 470 Women's, 49er, 49FX, Finn, Laser, Laser Radial, Nacra 17, RS:X Men, RS:X Women, 2.4mR, SKUD18 and Sonar). Alongside the Olympic and Paralympic classes, the event will again be supporting Men’s and Women’s Kiteboard racing and a selection of youth and Olympic feeder classes, through an extensive Invited Classes program.

The 2014 event is set to see the continued campaign toward Rio 2016 of the recently announced Australian Sailing Team and Development Squads.

'We are very excited about this year's event as we have a strong focus on ensuring that we attract the best sailors in the world to Melbourne for the ISAF Sailing World Cup. We are actively working with the top National teams and developing nations to assist with shipping logistics and charter options, to make it easier to come to Australia to do a series of top class events.

'As always, Melbourne hopes to provide first class racing as well as a full program of onshore activities and events,' said Event Director, Olympic 470 Gold Medallist Mark Turnbull.

The ISAF Sailing World Cup – Melbourne is supported by the Victorian Government as a part of the major events strategy.

Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation, the Hon. Damian Drum said, 'Hosting a leg of the ISAF Sailing World Cup puts the international spotlight again on Victoria as the sporting capital of Australia. On behalf of the Victorian Government, I would like to extend an invitation to athletes from around the globe to include the ISAF Sailing World Cup as a part of their Olympic endeavours.'

The formal Notice of Race will be released mid-year.
