ISAF Sailing World Cup Mallorca - Sailors seek to tame the Nacra beast

After a bay of two halves, the breeze on Palma Bay looks set to be more consistent, yet strong on the fourth day of racing at ISAF Sailing World Cup Mallorca.

A veering southerly to westerly breeze will pick up as the day progresses with winds gusting up to 29 knots.

It was a day of survival for the Nacra 17 on day three with several boats going over.

One of those was Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders (NZL) and the crew explained what went down, 'It was a bit of a shocker. It was the first time we've really seen the wind for the first few days and we just got a bit out of control I suppose. We had a little capsize but the rest of the day was good apart from that.

The boats were pretty lively and for us and and a few of the others we were a bit too far forward on the boat for the bear away and we just put the bow down. Hopefully we'll learn from those mistakes.'

More big stuff is on the agenda for the fourth day of racing but Saunders won't be holding back, 'You're always trying to push it as much as you can but you just make sure you're doing the same thing every time and get back in the boat for the bear aways and not steering too fast in the gybes. A bit of survival stuff.

'It's going to be an even windier day, a bit of fun for sure. Everyone's a little bit rusy but it'll be good out there. It's going to be fun.'

Gold fleet racing commences at 11:00 in the 49erFX, Men's and Women's RS:X, Laser and Laser Radial.

The 49er and Nacra 17 get going at 13:00 followed by the Finn at 13:30 and the Men's and Women's 470 at ISAF SWC website
