Foiling Week - Moth National Open Day 1

by Domenico Boffi on 6 Jul 2014
The Foiling Week - Moth Nationals Martina Orsini / TFW
The Foiling Week commenced today and for the rest of the weekend will see 33 mothies from eight countries and three continents. It 's the National Championship but, thanks to GAC Pindar Logistics and the approaching Foiling Week mixed races, there is a world class entry list.

The fleet has sailed three races in all kind of conditions: 8/10 knots and flat water in the first, 10 to 25 in the second and a third with gusts over 35 knots and the classic steep one meter wave of Torbole.

The other Foiling Week flying boats are starting to arrive in Garda as well: from Tuesday, eight of the flying boats will participate in mixed fleet endurance races. Some of the TFW Forum Speakers are already here enjoying the Garda dolce vita and talking about wings and foils. Tom Speer, the fluid dynamics guru, and Andrew 'Amac' McDougall, designer of the Moth Mach2 have shared a few drinks and it seems we witnessed the start of a long lasting friendship.
