Extreme Sailing Series – Dramatic capsize in Hamburg

Extreme Sailing Series™ – Caught out by a gust midway through a gybe as they raced downwind towards the final turning mark of race 19 at the Act 5, Hamburg presented by Land Rover, Danish SAP Extreme Sailing Team dramatically capsized, ending the day in a spectacular way for the fans watching the racing.

The safety team were immediately on site to provide assistance for co-skippers by Jes Gram-Hansen and Rasmus Køstner. All the crew are confirmed safe and the boat is upright. The crew and shore team will now asses the damage.

Conditions on the water were closely monitored by Race Director Phil Lawrence as storms including winds between eight to 22 knots blew over the River Elbe race course.

SAP Extreme Sailing Team is one of nine elite teams competing in the Extreme Sailing Series™. This is the first time the eight stop global Series has raced in Hamburg, Germany, bringing their unique style of Stadium Racing to the fans at the heart of the city.
