Eurocup Series – New beginnings in the RS Feva Class

by RS Sailing on 30 Mar 2015
RS Feva Class - Eurocup Series Peter Newton
It’s set to be an exciting season for the RS Feva class as we see the introduction of the Eurocup Series, kicking off with the European championships taking place from 23rd-25th May 2015. Racing will be held from the picturesque village of Campione, Lake Garda where sailors can expect competitive racing in one of the most prestigious sailing venues in the world alongside a friendly international social scene on the shore. Already 65 boats have entered from seven countries across Europe.

Competitors will descend on Lake Lipno in the Czech Republic for the second Euocup in the series, aptly named the Crown Cup. Run by the rapidly growing Czech RS Feva Class Association, the Crown Cup will be held between 20th and 22nd June and is sure not to disappoint. Organisers are providing traditional Czech specialities for evening meals to refuel competitors after racing, which is set to be run by one of the most highly regarded race teams in the country. The Czechs are raising the bar with their debut event this year by providing a packed evening schedule, including a Disco and film night. The friendly rivalry from the days racing will also be continued into the night when children can take to the rope park nearby.

The Grand Final of the 2015 RS Feva Eurocup series will be held at the brand new Regatta Centre, Muiderzand in the Netherlands. It will take place on the 19th-20th September and will see the crowning of our very first RS Feva Eurocup Champion, while marking the end of the most active and exciting season in RS Feva international history!

Perhaps reaching even further afield, The PA Consulting/Allen RS Feva World Championships will be held from 18th- 24th July. The event will take place in Travemünde, Germany and has been deliberately scheduled to overlap with the world famous Travemünde Woche. Sailors will be immersed in a vibrant atmosphere and surrounded by cultural events, entertainments, market stalls and tall ships alongside the most prominent RS Feva Championship of the year. With several months of entry still to go, 220 sailors from 16 countries around the world including Canada, USA and Russia have already signed up to compete for the world title. It’s bound to be a week not to be missed.
