Dansk dominans ved Nations Cup

Første dag ved ISAF Nations Cup 2013 Grand Final var en succes for de tre danske teams, der deltager. Lotte Meldgaard vandt tre ud af tre flights, Rasmus Viltoft vandt 3 ud af 4 og favoritten, Nicolai Sehested, vandt alle hans fire flights.

Eneste klagepunkt må være den noget ustabile vind, der var på Lillebælt i dag. Det kostede en ufrivillig middagspause på et par timer, da den døde fuldstændigt ved 12-tiden. Den norske kvindelige skipper, Anne Marit Hansen, måtte desuden en tur på skadestuen, efter en hurtig spiler nedtagning. Stagen blev smidt lige langt nok bagud og slog skipperen ud. Det resulterede i et forstuvet håndled, som lige skulle tjekkes for brud på nærmeste skadestue. Men kort efter var hun igen klar på banen.

Mændene er delt i to puljer, hvor gruppe A har sejlet i DS37’ere i dag, mens gruppe B har sejlet i Match28’ere. I morgen bliver der byttet rundt, så der er helt ens vilkår. I gruppe A finder vi de to danske teams. Her blev et par flights udsat p.g.a. vejret, og dem forventer man at sejle på fredag. Men det rykker ikke ved det faktum, at Sehested og hans besætning kunne gå tilfredse i land efter dagens sejladser.

I gruppe B fik man gennemført alle flights, og ingen af skipperne kunne præstere 100 pct. Sakamoto fra Japan og Haddad fra Brasilien har dog lagt sig forrest med 4 ud af 5 mulige sejre hver. Haddad måtte æde dagens eneste sorte flag efter to infights med Gilmour fra England. Efter umpirens mening tog han ikke sine straffe korrekt, og så var det en disker. Hos kvinder ligger Melgaard på en suveræn førsteplads efter to - delvist sejlede - round robins. På grund af den norske skippers tur på skadestuen måtte der byttes lidt rundt.

Torsdag forsætter sejladserne, men omkring kl. 11 bliver det hele suspenderet for en time. Hans Kongelige Højhed Kronprins Frederik kommer på besøg for selv at sejle et enkelt flight mod Sehested. Kronprinsen bliver bakket op af Jesper Bank som taktiker, så det er de gamle ræve mod de unge topsejlere. Under hele Nations Cup bliver der sendt live tv fra vandet, og det samme gælder for VIP-sejladsen. Her vil makkerparret Gorm og Morten Lorenzen kommentere slagets gang.
