Concurrents de la Route Rimouski-Saint-Pierre contraints à l’abandon

Deux des trois voiliers ayant pris le départ de la première édition de la régate Route Rimouski-Saint-Pierre dimanche dernier sont maintenant rendus dans le golfe du Saint-Laurent à l’est de la péninsule gaspésienne. C’est le jeune skipper de Pogo Loco, Antoine Lacasse, qui mène devant OmerI skippé par Philippe Laville. La stratégie de Pogo Loco de tirer des bords le long de la côte semble lui avoir permis de maintenir son avance.

Malheureusement, le voilier Jazz a dû rebrousser chemin quelques heures seulement après le départ en raison d’un bris au mât. L’équipage est rentré sain et sauf à la Marina de Rimouski et est déjà reparti vers leur port d’attache à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. Malgré l’incident, le moral de l’équipe était bon regrettant seulement de ne pouvoir se rendre à Saint-Pierre et de profiter de cette belle aventure. Mais, selon les propos du skipper Steve Desrosiers, ils se promettent d’être du prochain rendez-vous.

Les prévisions de vent devraient permettre aux participants de la Route Rimouski Saint-Pierre de rejoindre les concurrents de la Route Halifax Saint-Pierre dont le départ est prévu aujourd’hui le 8 juillet à 12h00 heure locale. Il est d’ailleurs possible de suivre le progrès des voiliers à partir du site web.

La Route Rimouski-Saint-Pierre est organisée par la marina de Rimouski et le comité des Défis Georges-Leblanc et appuyée par l’Association maritime du Québec. La Route Rimouski-SaintPierre appuie l’Association du cancer de l’est du Québec en récoltant des fonds qui peuvent transmiis directement à l’ACEQ via leur site web.
