Clipper Ventures Plc is pleased to announce that once again MedAire Limited, the sister company of L.E. West, has been appointed as the Official Medical Kit Supplier for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race.

This latest partnership marks the fourth consecutive time the company has supplied the medical kits and equipment for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. In the case of an offshore emergency it is essential to have the necessary medical supplies on board to ensure that the highest quality of care can be provided.

MedAire will be providing the brand new matched fleet of 12, 70ft racing yachts with comprehensive medical kits specifically designed for ocean racing. The unique challenges of the environment and the sport require more than a standard, off-the-shelf approach.

The Clipper Race Director, Justin Taylor added. 'This year we have more crew than ever before competing in the race. The safety and well-being of our 650 crew is absolutely paramount.

'We are therefore extremely pleased to welcome back on board MedAire, the leading supplier of medical kits for offshore sailing.'

With their specialist knowledge of remote medical care and applicable maritime regulations, MedAire assisted Clipper Ventures in tailoring the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s medical supply requirement for the Clipper Race. This ensures that each of the boats will be equipped with medical equipment and medications for responding to both common and life threatening incidents.

The MedAire and Clipper Ventures relationship further strengthens the Clipper Race longstanding policy of making the health and safety of its crews a priority.

'Crew members rely on each other to compete successfully and take care of each other in the event of a medical incident,' said Steven Bates, General Manager of Luxury Yachts for MedAire. 'Having a clinically and logically assembled medical kit allows crew to focus on the tasks at hand with the confidence that appropriate resources are available to respond to both routine and critical maritime Clipper Round the World website
