Despite a long wait ashore at the Audi TP52 World Championship in the hope of the very light easterly breeze filling in enough to get today's second scheduled coastal race underway, AP over Alpha was hoisted at 2.30 p.m. at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. Racing is scheduled to continue tomorrow, Thursday 12th June, through Saturday 14th in the event organized by the YCCS in collaboration with title sponsor Audi.
Edoardo Recchi, Sports Director of the YCCS, predicts better conditions for racing for the rest of the week: 'Today we were forced to cancel racing due to an almost total lack of wind. Conditions should get better through the rest of the week with approximately 10 knots from west - north west tomorrow increasing over Friday and Saturday.'
The nine participating crews will be back on the starting line tomorrow at 12 midday for the last of the scheduled coastal races. Owners, crews and guests will be able to unwind this evening at a Barbecue at Bar Aqua before the battle for the World Title recommences tomorrow.
