Audi Melges 20 Audi-Tron Series - Big racing planned for Porto Venere

An impressive thirty-seven Audi Melges 20s have descended upon the very beautiful and quaint Italian city of Porto Venere for Act 2 of the 2015 Audi Melges 20 Audi-Tron Sailing Series supported by Comune di Porto Venere and Circolo Velico La Spezia locally represented by Attilio Cozzani and organized by B.Plan Sport and Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe.

Competition will take place over two days (Saturday and Sunday) with teams representing eleven countries - Czech Republic, Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Monaco, Poland, Russia, South Africa and Sweden. Italy is the largest fleet represented with thirteen teams followed by Russia with nine entries.

Fleet standouts include the return of Series leader Dario Levi aboard Fremito D'Arja, World Champion runner-up Achille Onorato on Mascalzone Latino, Jr., Monaco Winter Series event winner Agusta Corrado on Customly, Mirko De Falco's Peccere, Pasquale Orofino's Raffica, Guido Miani's Out of Reach, and Valentin Zavadnikov's Synergy GT. Richard Gorannson's Inga From Sweden has arrived power-packed with America's Cupper John Kostecki.

The Melges 20 Class is thrilled to welcome newcomers Kristina Plattner sailing Melges Performance, as well as two new teams from Poland to the International arena - Salata Valdemar on Startelekom and Krzysztof Krempec aboard Mag Tiny.

In addition to main sponsor Audi, the Audi-Tron Sailing Series is supported by official sponsors Kuehne+Nagel, Technical Partners Torqeedo, Caffe Vergnano, Bavaria, Usail, Nuova Jolly and The Suite Club.
