The final day of racing at the RS Feva Crown Cup and Czech National Championships arrived with good wind already established. The clouds were more even than previous days, making for a more reliable breeze. Everything looked set for a super last day of the RS Feva Crown Cup 2015.
Race 1 got underway without delay in a solid 10 knots of breeze. Taking no prisoners, Jack Lewis and Lucas Marshall (GBR) were quick to slot themselves back into the groove and took the bullet. The fight for second/third was hot between Czech teammates, Jaroslav Cermak and Petr Kostal, and Jakub Dobry and Tereza Dobra, and with very few points separating them on the scoreboard, every point was critical. Cermak/Kostal pipped Dobry/Dobra to the post and inched their way closer to the top of the scoreboard.
A surge of form saw the Lithuanian team, Simonas Jersovas and Vejas Strelciunas dominate and take their first win of the series, holding off Lewis/Marshall and the girls, Lucie Keblova/Aneta Palenickova (CZE), who snuck into third. Meanwhile the battle between the Czech pairings continued with the determined Cermak/Kostal just ahead at the finish, adding a fourth to the score board.
The final race of the series saw the British team, Lucas/Marshall go out with a bang, taking another win in their series and putting them on the top step of the podium overall. After a day of battling it out, Dobry/Dobra managed to regain the upper hand over Cermak/Petr finishing second in the race and overall and giving them the title of 2015 Czech National Champions. Narrowly missing out on the title but taking bronze home from the regatta was Cermak/Petr (CZE). Jersovas/Strelciunas of Lithuania completed their series on a high, slotting in a third in the final race to finish fourth overall, just a couple of points off a podium finish. Meanwhile Lucie Keblova and Aneta Palenickova finished fifth overall and will take away the ladies trophy for the regatta.
A tight finish in a varied regatta. Next stop and arguably the pinnacle of the RS Feva International calendar this year will be the PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Championships being held in Travemunde, Germany from 18th-24th July.
