2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games - Day 3

by Daniel Smith on 20 Aug 2014
On the lookout for breeze ISAF
2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games - The strongest breeze of the competition thus far is expected for the third day of competition on Lake Jinniu with up to eight knots of breeze on the menu.

Racing is all set to commence at 11:00 local time with all fleets taking to the water well in advance of the scheduled race start time to hone in their technique. The north easterly breeze will vary between six - eight knots making for a great day of race action.

The Girl’s Techno 293 will commence racing at 11:00 local time on Race Area A and will sail two races. The Boy’s Techno 293 will follow afterwards racing two races. The Girl’s will return to the water for a third and final race with the boy’s sailing a third shortly afterwards.

Byte CII racing is scheduled to commence racing on Area B at 11:00 local time if there is adequate breeze. However if the breeze does not fill in then the fleets will sail after the Techno 293 on Area A.

With racing behind schedule the fleets are catching up and Thursday’s reserve day will be used to catch up on racing.

At the early stages of the event Pedro Correa (BRA) and Odile van Aanholt (NED) top the bill in the one-person dinghy fleets and Francisco Saubidet Birkner (ARG) and Lucie Pianazza (FRA) are ahead in the windsurfers.
