For the first time in seven years, the PWA World Tour came back to Maui putting the world’s best windsurfers against some of the world’s best conditions. Taking off where it left off in 2006, the Aloha Classic is once again supported by JP Australia, highlighting the unbreakable bond between the JP name and the world famous surf of Ho’okipa Beach Park.

What an amazing few days in the JP Aloha Classic at Ho'okipa! What an amazing few days at the JP Aloha Classic! With the resumption of the PWA Double Elimination and the World Title decider set to sail the action was electric from the outset. The wind did not seem to want to cooperate and this only helped to add further suspense as fans tuned in from all over the world. The passing showers kept shutting the wind off leaving riders stranded out to sea.

At the JP Aloha Classic, the decision was made early to release all PWA, Women and Youth and focus on the Amateur and Masters brackets once more. We continue to score with the conditions and Thursday and Friday are setting up to be amazing Ho’okipa days for the PWA Double Elimination.

At the JP Aloha Classic, the biggest names in windsurfing came head to head at Ho’okipa today for the Single Elimination At the JP Aloha Classic, the biggest names in windsurfing came head to head at Ho’okipa today for the Single Elimination in what has been dubbed the ‘Clash of the Titans’ with the top PWA and AWT riders pitted against each other in the mast high surf. As the NW swell continued to build through the morning so did the action.

On the PWA World Cup JP Aloha Classic third day extremely light winds meant that no competition was completed today. With a deteriorating forecast for the afternoon and a distinct lack of wind in the morning the sailors were released at 11am. After a drought prior to the JP Aloha Classic beginning, there was a slight concern as to whether the wind would arrive. Following a brief wind drought prior to the JP Aloha Classic beginning, there was a slight concern as to whether the wind would arrive, thankfully though the wind Gods had clearly read the script as the wind kicked in early at Ho’okipa Beach Park on the inaugural day of the JP Aloha Classic PWA World Cup.

JP Aloha Classic - Ho'okipa delivers on day 1 + Video
The first day of the JP Aloha Classic started early with the opening ceremony at 9am. The first day of the JP Aloha Classic started early with the opening ceremony at 9am which streamed live to the world via the AWT and PWA sites. The thought provoking Hawaiian blessing asked for wind and waves and almost immediately the breeze started to build ruffling the head high surf.

JP Aloha Classic PWA World Cup - Battle royale set for Ho’okipa
The time has finally come for the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) to return to the windsurfing Mecca of Maui. The time has finally come for the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) to return to the windsurfing Mecca of Maui - in association with the American Windsurfing Tour (AWT). From the 24th October to the 6th November the elite of the wave sailing world shall be once again be descending upon the wonderful shores of Maui - for the first time in seven years - as the JP Aloha Classic takes place.

PWA Sylt World Cup - Action packed final day expected
At the PWA Sylt World Cup, with an outside chance of some wind and waves on the horizon, the wave fleet met at 7am. At the PWA Sylt World Cup, with an outside chance of some wind and waves on the horizon for this morning, the wave fleet met at 7am. Unfortunately though, the early start didn’t pay off as the competitors and crew were greeted with light cross-onshore wind and very little in the way of waves.

The seventh day of the GP Joule PWA Sylt World Cup proved to be the busiest day of competition thus far. The seventh day of the GP Joule PWA Sylt World Cup proved to be the busiest day of competition thus far as both the freestyle and slalom fleets took to the water. The freezing cold continued today as both the men’s freestyle double elimination - dedicated to André Paskowski - and the fifth elimination of the men’s slalom were completed before the end of a very long day.
