Com mais de 70% do barco reconstruído, o Team Vestas Wind anunciou suas novas contratações para completar sua tripulação no retorno à Volvo Ocean Race na etapa de Lisboa. O navegador australiano Tom Addis e o holandês Simon Tienpont entram na equipe.



O Team Vestas Wind, barco que encalhou na segunda etapa da Volvo Ocean Race e está em processo de reconstrução, completou sua equipe para o retorno às regatas a partir da oitava etapa, entre Lisboa e Lorient. O australiano Tom Addis e o holandês Simeon Tienpont são as caras novas no time dinamarquês.



Tom Addis ocupará o posto de navegador. Será sua terceira edição da regata, após correr no Puma e no Telefónica Blue. Simeon Tienpont, que já ganhou a America's Cup, será o proeiro do barco e fará sua segunda Volta ao Mundo. Ele entra na vaga de Tom Johnson, que está no Oracle Team USA.



'Agora somos uma equipe completa e nosso objetivo será voltar para a regata em Lisboa. Nós vamos buscar as melhores atuações no restante da Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15', disse o comandante Chris Nicholson.



O barco está fora da Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 desde novembro do ano passado quando se chocou contra um recife no arquipélago de Cargados Carajos, no Oceano Índico. Foi um dos incidentes mais graves ocorridos em voltas ao mundo. Por sorte ninguém se feriu.
