Fleet Race Battle – One week to go Juerg Kaufmann http://juergkaufmann.com/
Maloja wind, here we come! It is in unique Engadin, in front of an exceptional mountainous setting, on lake St. Moritz that the sixth edition of the Fleet Race Battle will take place next weekend.

“Show the Maloja wind the horns!”, in this spiritthe participates as well as the spectators may look forward to an exciting regatta in an umpired Fleet Race mode. Short, spectacular runs will reveal the winner of the blu26 St. Moritz Cup 2017!

On 19/20 August, 20 teams from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as a team from Montenegro, will participate in the sixth edition of the Fleet Race Battle and sail for the trophy. Following the dictum of the event – “Travel here with light luggage and show the Maloja wind the horns!” – the regatta will take place on blu26 boats made available by the organizing committee.

Getting to know the blu26 class
With the support of the Maloja wind, the regatta committee will be able to process up to five flights with three runs each per day. The regatta will be held in an umpired Fleet Race mode. This format comprises numerous short runs and guarantees a battle, as attractive for the sailing crews on the water, as for the spectators on shore. The dynamic up and down courses promise a spectacular arena from around the lake.

Promising crew list for exciting battles
20 teams in total with numerous national and international champions have signed up. And several ambitious teams from the regions Zug, Zurich and Bayern are ready to start. It is for the first time that Wolfgang Nemetz’s team – as the name suggests, from Lake Wolfgang in Austria – are participating at the Fleet Race Battle in Engadin, and they are highly motivated!

Giachem Duas, the local heros from the St. Moritz sailing club, champion in2013 and winner of the blug26 cup Romanshorn in June 2017, are especially keen to reach a top result in front of their local public. With Lorenz Müller from the Yacht Club Biel, another top sailor is positioned; him and his team are always prepared for surprising results and have defenses to catchup on! With the team around Olga Salnikova from the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club, there is one more international crew listed –demonstrating: no way is too long to travel to St. Moritz!

Overall, a thrilling crew list, promising a very exciting Fleet Race Battle in front of a spectacular scenery.
